LEATHER WORKERS, BOOK BINDERS
Working with leather or heavy sailcloth required strength not credited to women. Larger, heavier needles, sometimes curved, were needed for these heavier materials.
Saddles and harnesses, saddlebags, pouches, and wallets were some of the leather items requiring sewing.
